Did you know that Hernani’s Old Town has been declared a Cultural Asset in the Monumental Sites category?

This is one of the reasons why it is worth exploring and getting lost in its streets, while discovering its monuments, squares and curiosities hidden in some of the corners of our medieval town.

Two streets running lengthways, Andre kalea and Kale Nagusia, and a crosways one, Felipe Sagarna “Zapa” kalea, formed the walled enclosure, which could only be accessed through five entrances.

Today, little remains of that wall. The passing of the years seems to have resulted in some eras overlapping with others, to the point of making them almost invisible. However, they are there but you just have to know where to look. If you are curious and want to know more, you can do so at your own pace.
