Cod week

Linked to the traditional menu in cider bars, Cod Week has gained gastronomic importance over recent years. This gastronomic festival is organised by the Town Council and the Berriak Trade and Catering Association. It is normally held during the first two weeks of October.

It is undoubtedly a unique opportunity to enjoy gastronomic creations that are not available the rest of the year.

The main attraction during the Week is the Cod Pintxos Competition that takes place between participating local bars. Each establishment prepares a pintxo that can only be tried during this period. If you wish, you can also be a member of the jury, voting for them as you try each one.

Cod Week is an annual event that has been running for over 10 years and has now become an eagerly awaited event for the people of Hernani and is attracting an increasing number of visitors.

A great atmosphere is guaranteed, as many people meet up throughout these days, tasting the different dishes prepared by the bars.

The programme also includes street entertainment, competitions, children’s games and guided tours, among other activities.
